Our Story

Malak Primary School operates in the northern suburbs of Darwin with an enrolment of 185 students from many cultural backgrounds. We acknowledge the Larrakia people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet, learn and play together. We pay our respects to past, present and future Elders, and we share our friendship and kindness.

Malak Primary is committed to learning for life and student success, appreciating and valuing our student diversity and the knowledge they bring as competent, confident citizens.

With our families, students and partners, our dedicated team strives to ensure that we provide a learning environment that is safe, supportive and positive for all. A key strength is that our cohesive, dedicated team all draw deep satisfaction from working and learning with our students.

The Berry Street Education Model is embedded in our daily practice in all classrooms, offices, meetings and playgrounds of our school. Through our whole school approach, our students know how to be ‘ready to learn’ physically, emotionally and in mindset. Our teachers and staff know how to be ‘present, centred and ready to teach.’ Our learning environments focus on building resilience, self-regulation, character strengths and learning stamina.

Our motto:

Learning for Life

Our Values:

Respect for Self
Respect for Others
Respect for the Environment

Our goal is student success for all – and it is only by working together we will achieve a new standard of success for our children and our school.

It is our privilege to welcome you to Malak Primary.
